The purpose of our activities at BeFo is both to gain new knowledge and to "create" competent specialists, who are capable of translating their expertise into practice. Our research projects - whether they are pursued by senior researchers or postgraduate students at institutes of higher education - are planned and carried out in close consultation with companies via reference and working groups, field experiments and various forms of exchanges of experience between researchers. As a natural consequence, most of the researchers who have completed doctorates in BeFo projects, are now employed by contractors, consultants, clients or manufacturers in the rock engineering industry.
Our overall goal remains is to contribute by advanced research and development to greater expertise in rock engineering and thereby to help strengthen the position of the industry in our society.
